01. What are the Tao and its Attributes?

The Tao is the formless, invisible, inaudible, odorless, but real and unvarying existence. The Tao is but the root that generates and dominates the Myriad Things, and the general energy source of everything. The Attributes (of the Tao) is harmony. That people’s nature of mind understands the Way of Heaven and people’s behavior abides by the Principle of Heaven are called the Attributes (of the Tao).

The Tao and its Attributes is but the origin of harmony of Myriad Things. If the society of human beings were away from the real Tao and its Attributes, it is impossible that the world be peaceful forever and ecological environment be regulated fundamentally.

To know the Tao and its Attributes, to understand the Tao and its Attributes, to return to the Tao and its Attributes, and to obey the Tao and its Attributes, these are not only the objective to individual moral and cultivation, but the sole way to harmony of people and everlasting peace as well. The Tao and its Attributes will evolve to false form if people fall short of recognizing its essentials. The development of its form will enable neither the nature of human’s mind to return, nor the society of human beings to move to the highest phase of civilization.
